Manic Training Highlands Ranch
11 year old Cole Okamura is one highly motivated youngster! He is a die-hard Manic member, gives an all-out effort every time, and it's showing during his practices and games outside of the gym. Cole is now crushing it at running back and at linebacker!
Cole has also done his fair share of "bunnies" in the gym, and as such, he has earned the right to take a photo of the "Manic Bunny" in a way that portrays his reasons for taking part in the Manic Training program.
Cole, we can't wait to come see one of your football games soon! Rock on! #Readyforlife #thisiswhyimanic
My First Trail Marathon by Morgan Tilton
Last November, I had a goal in mind when I started training at Manic. I wanted to run my first trail race. A diversified adventurer, I had dabbled regularly in hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking, summiting peaks (you name it, I’d try it). But I hadn’t been attracted to any one activity the way I was with trail running. My largest goal when I signed up for a race was to cross the finish line and to complete the race without injury. In June, I did both of those things successfully—and even earned 6th place in my division! Manic Training absolutely helped to get me to the finish line.
My First Ultra Distances
While I was training for my first trail marathon I began to meet other trail runners and learn more about the community and sport. I shared my idea to run further than 26 miles, and everyone was supportive and encouraging. A mentor of mine suggested that if my first trail marathon went well, I would be strong enough and mentally ready to run the 50-mile race in the same series—three weeks later. No pressure. Right?
I continued training at Manic, tapered down my activity before the marathon, which went well! My mental confidence was up. I took my recovery time, maintained long runs after the marathon, and ran the 50-mile race! It was my first-ever ultra distance run, I earned 10th place in my division, and also sprinted the first steep section to earn a gold coin, which has landed me a spot in the 2017 Leadville 100.
Manic Training has helped to prepare me with the physical strength, endurance and agility, which have allowed me to quickly expand my running. Manic Training's mantra is "Ready For Life" -- in my experience, it's true!
